The University of Texas at Austin’s GAMMA Program Hosts Bowling & Billiards Night

April 7, 2014

AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Texas at Austin’s Game and Mobile Media Applications (GAMMA) Program hosted its first Bowling & Billiards Night last week on April 3, 2014. The non-competitive event brought together the GAMMA Program’s students and industry partners in the Texas Union Underground for a casual night of entertainment and networking.

Dr. Paul Toprac, Associate Director of the GAMMA Program, said of the event, “We wanted to host a fun, informal event for our students and industry partners.” Dr. Toprac continued, “It turned out to be a great way for our partners to get to know the students, exchange information, and show the students how fun they are!”

In attendance were more than forty GAMMA students—which included Computer Science, College of Fine Arts, and Radio-Television-Film majors—and representatives from Blizzard, Certain Affinity, Chaotic Moon, Jobs2Careers, and Team Chaos. Student attendees mingled with the industry representatives while testing their bowling and billiard skills.

The relaxed atmosphere facilitated attendees getting to know each other, networking, and learning about the partner companies. “It was fun talking with the students,” said Don Grey, Engineering Manager at Blizzard. “We look forward to working with the GAMMA Program with events like this one to get more local talent interested in Blizzard!”

The next GAMMA Bowling & Billiards Night will be held in the Spring semester of 2015.
