What is the Summer Hackathon:

The University of Texas at Austin’s GAMMA Program is partnering with Chaotic Moon to produce the UT & Chaotic Summer Moon Hackathon, where students compete to create the most innovative mashups of hardware and software to solve problems and extend our understanding of human-computer interaction.

The 48-hour event will have a set number of student teams working together with members of the Chaotic Moon development team. Together, they will explore developing hardware like the Oculus Rift and Leap Motion devices to create something truly unique.

Schedule of Events:

There will be a short preliminary event on Sunday, July 20th from 1:00pm – 3:00pm to get introduced to the studio, equipment, form teams, and brainstorm with the Chaotic Moon development team. The Summer Hackathon will begin on Friday, July 25th 6:00pm until Sunday, July 27th at 6:00pm.

What Should I Bring:

We highly encourage participants to bring their own laptop. Internet access and power will be provided at Chaotic Moon. Also, since this is a 48-hour event, bring items that will keep you comfortable (sleeping bags, tooth brush, etc.).

Food & Drinks:

Food and drinks will be provided during the July 25th – July 27th Hackathon portion of the event. There are also many varied food and drink options available in the vicinity of the Chaotic Moon studio.

Transportation & Parking:

We encourage participants to take public transportation (free with a UT ID). Bus routes to the downtown area can be found at: http://www.capmetro.org.

For commuters, Chaotic Moon has a limited amount of validated garage parking spots, so please carpool. The visitor parking entrance is on Brazos Street (one way north) between 3rd and 4th, on the left. Take the elevators to the ground floor, exit the building, and walk around to the left to the double red doors on Congress Avenue next to Annie’s Café. Chaotic Moon will validate your parking so keep your ticket.

There are also paid street parking spots and parking garages downtown.
