AUSTIN, Texas – May 15, 2012 – This summer, the University of Texas at Austin will have an associate director leading the new Game Development Program.

Toprac comes to the University of Texas at Austin from a recent post at the Guildhall at Southern Methodist University, a highly ranked graduate game development program, where he lectured and oversaw the graduate committee and the institutional effectiveness initiative to comply with SAC’s accreditation requirements. Previously, he was the Executive Director at the Austin Technology Council, where he grew the organization to the then largest independent software industry association in Texas. Toprac has more than 20 years of experience in the software business with roles ranging from senior product manager to consultant to CEO. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, a Master of Business Administration, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction (Learning Technologies) from The University of Texas at Austin.

“UT prepares leaders in almost every discipline,” Toprac said, “but now UT will leverage that capability to create a world-class interdisciplinary game development program. I am excited about my role at UT and the opportunity to partner with the excellent team of faculty and staff in Computer Science, College of Fine Arts, and Radio-Television-Film, as well as with local game studios.”
