The mission of the Game Development and Design Program is to produces graduates ready to design, develop and provide leadership for the exploding growth in game, mobile app and creative media agencies and studios in Texas and around the world.
The vision of the Game Development and Design Program is to be one of the top 5 undergraduate programs in the U.S. within 5 years. In order to accomplish our vision, we are merging the intellectual power of The University of Texas at Austin’s Center for Arts and Entertainment Technologies (CAET), College of Fine Arts, Computer Science Department, and Radio-Television-Film Department.
The goal of theGame Development and Design Program is to achieve three primary objectives essential to advance the interdisciplinary field of digital interactive media, game and mobile development:
- Significantly increase the digital media workforce by expanding the student population by 50 percent.
- Continually evolve the curriculum with initiatives such as the new GDAD certificate program.
- Provide cutting-edge courses to bring together practitioners, academics and students with diverse backgrounds in computer science, communications, art, music and design.
